At War With Everybody

Chicago is home to a vibrant punk and hardcore music scene, as well as the heaps of other great music the city churns out every night in concert halls to basements.

One of my favorite bands from there, Punch in the Face, has released four songs from their upcoming LP, that, well, has been "upcoming" for years. After recording in February, it looks like it could come out this summer.

Punch in the Face play early 1980s-style punk that would easily fit on the documentary "American Hardcore." I hate making band comparisons, so that's going to be as much as you'll get. Decide what you think by checking out their Web site.

Think of lo-fi, somewhat clean-sounding guitar and spot-on drums with shouted vocals. This band is not afraid to slow it down, as they do on "At War with Everybody."

The band doesn't really tour that often, other than trips to Canada and maybe the East Coast, documented in fanzines both in print and online.

They have released Two 7-inch EPs, one self-titled (cover art show above) and a second called "Dumb Hardcore EP." they also put out a radio set of songs they recorded at Radio K (a college radio station) in Minnesota. I think that radio set came out in '04.


They could come to St. Louis this summer? Maybe.
